Construction cost of pedestrian bridge on Russia-Chinese island near Khabarovsk estimated at 5.7 billion roubles


The bridge’s construction is part of a project for building a special tourist economic zone on the Russian side of Bolshoi Ussuriysky Island in the Khabarovsk region. This project’s chief goal is to increase annual tourist traffic to the island to 1.5 million Chinese and 575,000 Russians. The project is currently being mapped out, and construction on the Russian part of the island is planned to begin in 2011 and end in 2013. (RIA Novosti, 09/8/2010)
