Road builders report completion of Amur Highway construction to Putin

Transport Minister Igor Levitin reported on Friday to Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin,  that construction of the Amur Highway has been completed. The head of the government noted in his congratulatory telegram to the road builders: “By linking Russia’s east and west together and opening a direct road route from Murmansk to Vladivostok, this new road will help fulfil the strategic objectives that face Russia today. This road not only opens up additional transport and transit opportunities, but also essentially launches a radically new stage in the development of the Siberian and Far East regions.” (RIA Novosti, 24/09/2010)
